Montaña de Oro & the End of Our Great Adventure

After leaving Monterey and driving several hours south on California State Route 1, which is considered one of, if not the most, scenic drives in the world, we drove into Cayucos, Morro Bay, and spied Morro Rock off the coast. What a recognizable natural wonder it is! Our camping destination in Montaña de Oro State Park proved successful when there was just one remaining campsite!

Carmel, Big Sur, Monterey, & San Simeon (CA)

At 11:15 a.m. on 26 Sep 2019, we left Ben Ries Campground and drove into Santa Cruz for a day of errands: grocery shopping in a huge and well-stocked Safeway, haircuts, etc. We spent one night at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Sadly, I took no photographs and wrote no notes about specifics of our overnight there.

Navarro State Beach and Butano SP via Highways 101 & 1 (CA)

We departed Albee Creek Campground at 11 a.m. on 24 Sep 2019 and traveled south on Highway 101 to Highway 1 in Mendocino County. We drove several hours along the coast through Ft. Bragg and a multitude of tiny towns and coastal landmarks.
